West Virginia Radio, based in Morgantown, WV, owns and operates 32 radio stations throughout the Northeast while providing turnkey video production services to schools and events via their PikeWood Creative subsidiary. To increase their video production capabilities, Pikewood Creative purchased a complete HD production system to produce complex sports events including ESPN3 live broadcasts. Pikewood’s two console PortaCast Deluxe system can be used to produce events either inside their production van or at any location by easily removing the two PortaCast flypacks. A multi-signal cable connects the two consoles in minutes and creates a full-featured control-room at any location. The PortaCast Director Pack features a ROSS Carbonite switcher, NewTek 3Play replay system and intercom base station along with an easy access patch panel for fiber based camera connectivity. The Audio/Video Engineering Pack includes a Behringer x32 Digital Audio mixer, Panasonic camera shading controls, phone hybrids and back-up recording decks by Blackmagic Design. Camera chains are Panasonic AG-HPX600 studio and hand-held cameras equipped with MultiDyne Silverback fiber interfaces with 500 foot SMPTE tactical fiber cable reels built by Tactical Fiber Systems.
