COX Communications in New Orleans, LA needed a portable system that would allow them to produce local content in the studio and in the field. They wanted a system that would work with their existing Sony equipment but allowed for expansion and customization as their equipment was upgraded and replaced. COX also needed the ability to bring in a wide variety of sources, such as analog cameras and computer devices. Up close with the front rack. The sheer amount of equipment demonstrates the advantage of the PortaCast® system. With its 2″ of shock foam, this equipment can sustain blows that would destroy lesser flypacks.
Mobile Studios designed a distributed system that gave COX Communications the ability to input multiple types of sources and simultaneously send the program feed to air, to the Sony Cassette Recorder, and to a DVD recorder. Wired and wireless intercom systems were interconnected to give seamless communication with both crew and talent. Finally, the modular design of the PortaCast® Mobile Studio coupled with the simple layout and clear labeling by Mobile Studios’ production team COX Communications would easily be able to replace or upgrade components in the future with a minimum of effort.
